Jessie Mei Li is an English actress who works primarily in the film and television industries in the United States and the United Kingdom. She is well-known for her role in the popular Netflix series Shadow and Bone. As of 2021, she is 25 years old, having been born on August 27, 1995.

Career –

Jessica joined the National Youth Theatre in 2015 and began taking acting workshops at the same time. From 2016 to 2017, she attended Identity School of Acting. She is well-known for her role in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Shadow and Bone. She’s also appeared in the drama “All About Eve.” She is extremely active on social media and has a sizable fan base. She’s a newcomer to the acting world who has been in the spotlight after landing the role of Alina Starkov on Netflix’s new series Shadow and Bone. She played Lara Chung in Edgar Wright’s psychological horror film Last Night in Soho, where she co-starred with Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, and Matt Smith. In a 2019 stage performance of All About Eve, she brought the character of Claudia Casswell to life.

She was born and raised in the English town of Brighton, in the county of East Sussex.  Her education was finished at Reigate College in England. She then enrolled at the University of Sussex to study French and Spanish. She eventually dropped out and went to work as a teaching assistant for students with special needs at a secondary school.

Jessie Mei Li is from an English working-class background. She is of English and British nationality, and her ethnicity is Asian. Her father is Chinese, having grown up in Hong Kong. Her mother worked as a nurse in England. She also has an older brother who works for the NHS as a doctor. Jessie Mei Li has never been in a serious relationship. So far, there have been no rumors of her dating anyone. 

Li is a Bristol resident. She adheres to the vegan lifestyle. She battled with undiagnosed ADHD until an adult diagnosis “answered many lifelong problems.” Li has made it clear that she wants to be a role model for persons who are neurodivergent. She also identifies as non-binary. She began learning Hungarian in order to form bonds with Shadow and Bone’s crew. She’s trained in Taekwondo and Wing Chun, among other martial arts. Li has worn a necklace with her Chinese zodiac sign, the Pig since she was a small child.
