That’s one way to kick off a tour! The Dixie Chicks mocked Donald Trump during a concert in Cincinnati on Wednesday, June 1.

While performing their 1999 hit “Goodbye Earl,” the country trio flashed a defaced picture of the Republican presidential nominee, 69, with devil horns, a mustache and a goatee during the opening night of the North American leg of their DCX MMXVI World Tour.

The Dixie Chicks — Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire — are no strangers to making political statements during their shows. Just days before Iraq was invaded by a United States-led coalition in March 2003, Maines, now 41, slammed then President George W. Bush during a controversial performance in London.

“We don’t want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas,” the country singer told the audience at the time.

The contentious comment immediately angered many fans and Americans alike and ultimately led to boycotts, a ban on the group’s music on country radio and even death threats.

Three years later, the Dixie Chicks addressed the controversy with their single “Not Ready to Make Nice.” The track went on to win three Grammy Awards — including Record of the Year and Song of the Year — and remains the band’s biggest hit in the United States to date.
